South African regional and domestic airline Airlink has signed a Component Pool Programme agreement with Brazil-based global major aerospace group Embraer. The agreement provides support for the ten Embraer E195-E2 jetliners that the carrier is leasing from major US-based aircraft lessor Azorra.

“Expanding the Embraer component inventory agreement to cover our new Embraer E195-E2s will provide us with the security we need as we deploy the aircraft,” affirmed Airlink CEO de Villiers Engelbrecht. “It will help us achieve the maximum operational, commercial and economic benefits we expect to derive from the new additions to our fleet.”

The airline already had a Component Pool agreement with the manufacturer, covering the types it already operates (Airlink has a 100%-Embraer jetliner fleet). This new agreement will increase the number of aircraft covered to 78, once the final E195-E2 had been handed over.

“We are proud to support the E2 operations at Airlink, a flagship example of innovation and efficiency in regional aviation,” highlighted Embraer Services & Support president and CEO Carlos Naufel. “Embraer deeply values the trust Airlink has placed in our aircraft and services, and we remain dedicated to empowering their success with the most advanced solutions in the industry. This Pool Programme agreement reflects our commitment to operational excellence and reinforces Embraer’s role in supporting Airlink’s growth strategy in the region.”

The manufacturer’s Pool Programme uses its technical expertise and extensive services network to provide comprehensive parts support to airlines all around the world. For airlines, the programme significantly reduces the costs of holding inventories, reduces the need for warehousing, provides economies regarding the repair of components, and all with guaranteed performance levels. “Embraer Services & Support provides a wide range of customised solutions designed to enhance the after-sales experience and support the growing global fleet of Embraer aircraft,” stated the company.

Airlink has been an Embraer customer since 2001. The airline has a fleet of 70 jetliners, and operates 67 routes to and from 47 destinations across 15 countries in Southern and East Africa, including the island State of Madagascar and the island territory of St Helena.

Founded in 1969, since then Embraer has delivered more than 9 000 aircraft. It is the world leading manufacturer of airliners with up to 150 seats. Embraer jetliners fly more than 150-million passengers a year.
